Scientist - Translational Research Group, Lilly Gene Therapy

Come join the rapidly expanding Lilly Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene therapy to patients around the world.

Responsibilities:

The Translational Research group at Lilly Gene Therapy is seeking a Translational Research associate scientist to support the translational and bioanalytical efforts for AAV gene therapies, targeted nanoparticles and gene editing technologies. The successful candidate will perform in in vitro and in vivo studies, develop and execute experiments for our preclinical programs and analyze nonclinical data. The position requires attention to detail and ability to multitask as there are often multiple, concurrent projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular biology techniques, protein purification and assay development, reagent development, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry. This is a lab-based position.

  • Plan and execute experiments in cell lines and primary cells to support our preclinical programs
  • Execute in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo experiments to test efficacy and safety of AAV vectors and nanoparticles
  • Perform laboratory techniques including DNA/RNA purification and analysis (qPCR, ddPCR, RT-qPCR, NGS), protein and antibody purification, and analysis (SDS-PAGE, WES/JESS, ELISA, MSD), flow cytometry
  • Run PK/PD, immunogenicity (ADA and NAb), and cell-based assays to support preclinical studies
  • Develop assays and optimize methods in multiple matrices
  • Support assay transfer/validation with external vendors/CROs
  • Oversee stock of lab supplies, ordering and organizing lab supply inventory
  • Participate in improving lab operations developing and maintaining and inventory of research samples and other reagents
  • Rigorous data analysis and effective communication to all stakeholders
  • Ensure research work is conducted with the highest quality and ethical standards, keeping meticulous records, and documentation
  • Comply with standard laboratory practices, including documentation and biosafety policies
  • Collaborate cross functionally across Lilly Research Laboratories to accelerate the development of genetic medicines
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or a related scientific field with 4+ years of relevant work experience, or Master’s Degree in scientific field with 2+ years of relevant work experience
Additional Preferences:
  • Prior training in gene therapy, and/or targeted nanoparticles
  • Experience with electronic lab notebooks and/or GxP documentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Additional Information:
  • This role may require up to 10-15% travel for studies, conferences or training.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
