Job summary

ImmuneBridge is hiring a hands-on Scientist or Senior Scientist for Process Development in San Francisco. You will own bioreactor campaigns for stem cell expansion and immune cell differentiation, reporting to the CTO, with a focus on moving the platform toward clinical-scale manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Location: in-person, 5 days per week, San Francisco, CA

Compensation: $110,000-$160,000 plus equity

Job Description

We are hiring a hands-on process development scientist to own our bioreactor work. Reporting to the CTO, you will run and optimize rocking-motion bioreactor processes for stem cell expansion and immune cell differentiation, and help carry our platform from the bench toward clinical-scale manufacturing. The right candidate will perform:

• Bioreactor operation: Set up, run, and monitor rocking-motion (wave-type) bioreactor campaigns, including perfusion, and own key parameters such as pH, DO, seeding density, and feed/perfusion rates.
• Process development: Design and execute experiments (DoE where it fits) to improve expansion, yield, and run-to-run consistency; troubleshoot failed runs to root cause.
• Scale-up: Translate plate- and flask-scale processes to multi-liter bioreactor scale and build scale-down models.
• Characterization: Use cell counting and flow cytometry to track viability, identity, and phenotype; analyze data and recommend next steps.
• Documentation and tech transfer: Write protocols, run records, and development reports; present data to leadership; support future tech transfer to CDMO partners.

Required qualifications

• BS in bioengineering, chemical or biochemical engineering, cell biology, immunology, or a related field. Advanced degrees welcome; level is set by depth of hands-on experience.
• Hands-on bioreactor experience with mammalian or primary cells, ideally rocking-motion systems (e.g., Cytiva WAVE/Xuri or similar), including developing or optimizing protocols.
• Strong aseptic technique, cell culture skills and media/solution preparation; sound experimental design; data analysis skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a startup pace.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco 5 days/week, mostly in the lab.
• Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Cell therapy process development experience (HSC, NK, T cell, or other immune cells).
• Perfusion or fed-batch process experience; flow cytometry.
• Exposure to GMP, tech transfer, or CDMOs.
• Prior startup experience.
