Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation in Jackson, MS is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform defined laboratory procedures, report results, and support patient outcomes on assigned shifts.

You will receive and prioritize specimens, perform and report tests, maintain quality control, participate in proficiency testing, and assist with instrument maintenance, inventory, and training of students.

Qualifications

• Clinical Laboratory Experience is required.
• Bachelor's degree in MLS/MT from an accredited program.
• National certification required per Federal and/or State Regulations.

• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Supports lifelong learning.
• Completes assigned goals.
• Provide instruction for personnel and medical technology students, as required.

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
