We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene therapy to patients around the world.

This full-time position is located in Boston.

The in vivo pharmacology Scientist/Senior Scientist will participate in the Gene Therapy in vivo pharmacology lab to execute experiments in support of the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines. S/he will be a key driver to advance novel targets for neurodegenerative disorders, as well as exploring AAV vector biodistribution and clearance Level will be determined based on a combination of experience and qualification.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Work with project team leads to design and execute in vivo pharmacology experiments to characterize activity and distribution of genetic medicines in rodent models, including but not limited to AAV vectors
  • Assist in the development and characterization of novel in vivo models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (e.g., Target Discovery, Translational, and CROs) to ensure the translation from discovery to development
  • Provide written and verbal communication of work in study reports and team meetings
  • Keep and maintain accurate and timely documentation of all practical work: completion of electronic notebook in alignment with Lilly procedure quality standards and Good Documentation Practices
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Weekend work may be required at times


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors and/or Masters in life sciences, biology, neuroscience, or related scientific field and 1+ years’ experience working in pharmaceutical industry or contract research organization


Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Passion, knowledge, and experience in neuroscience or rare disease research
  • Hands on experience of rodent handling and dosing, including but not limited to subcutaneous (SC), intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), and intrathecal (IT) injections
  • Experience of small animal stereotaxic surgeries including but not limited to intracerebral (IC), intracisterna magna (ICM) and intracerebroventricular (ICV) injections in rodents
  • Experience of gross necropsies, tissue dissection, trimming and processing, collect bodily fluids (blood, cerebrospinal fluid [CSF])
  • Experience with ex-vivo assays is a plus such as ELISAs, WB, qPCR and histology techniques
  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects
  • Ability to craft, complete and interpret experiments independently, and to advance scientific understanding
  • Excellent communication skills and effective in collaborating across functional boundaries and in team environment
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, multitasking, desire to learn new techniques and contribute to innovative projects in a fast-paced working environment
  • Experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
