Job summary

WuXi AppTec is seeking a Scientist III to lead ADME studies, validate methods, and contribute to process improvements in drug discovery. You will supervise staff, train juniors, and ensure rigorous documentation and reporting.

The role emphasizes independent scientific thinking and collaboration with sponsors. Requirements include a biology/chemistry-related degree at PhD/Master/Bachelor level with extensive ADME knowledge.

Qualifications

  • PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s in Biology, Chemistry, or related Physical science degree.
  • Experience level: PhD with 0–3 years, Master’s with 8+ years, or Bachelor's with 10+ years related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of ADME discovery and development studies and related technologies.
  • Manage and coordinate studies as study director or project lead.
  • Supervise personnel and ensure high performance and training of junior staff.
  • Write comprehensive reports and present findings clearly.
  • Maintain organized research notebooks and ensure documentation is complete.
  • Review others’ calculations and records for accuracy.
  • Adhere to safety policies and maintain a safe, clean workplace.
  • Contribute to SOP writing and review, proposing improvements as needed.
  • Assist in sharing knowledge of pharmaceutical areas, DMPK, ADME, and Bioanalysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Scientist III would lead the development of new ADME studies and technologies and implementing process improvements. Perform method validation, report writing, complex trouble-shooting and problem-solving in the field of drug discovery and development.

  • Functions as a study director, principal investigator, or project coordinator, responsibilities include serving as a primary contact for sponsors, planning, supervising and exacting complex ADME discovery and development studies.
  • Supervises personnel. Ensures optimum personnel performance through leading by example, motivation, and performance recognition.
  • Writes comprehensive reports and presents clear and concise oral reports of processes and accomplishments.
  • Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation is recorded.
  • Trains junior level scientists.
  • Reviews other scientists’ calculations and records.
  • Follows company’s safety policies, practices and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
  • Learns, enhances, and shares technical knowledge of pharmaceutical areas, DMPK, ADME, In Life, Metabolism, and Bioanalysis.
  • Participates in writing and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggests practical changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Education
  • PhD., Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other related Physical science degree.
  • PhD with 0-3 years related experience. Master’s degree with 8+ years related experience, Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • An expert in advanced experimental methods, concepts and techniques relevant to ADME field.
  • Demonstrates independent thought and scientific/technical creativity.
  • Continues to increase awareness and understanding of relevant science and is conversant with relevant scientific literature.
  • Collaboratively researches and proposes methodologies for projects
  • Acts independently to research and propose methodologies and implement them
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skill to perform multiple projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Follow and adhere to nonGLP guidelines/SOPs consistent with WuXi AppTec requirement.
The anticipated base salary range for this opening is $90,000 to $110,000.
