Job summary

Tonix Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Scientist II to bolster preclinical programs through development and execution of in vitro and nonclinical assays. You will work on cell-based, biochemical, and translational assays and collaborate across discovery and development to generate high-quality data.

The role involves 3D culture, organoids, and DMPK/ADME work, contributing to program decisions and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field; 2+ years of relevant experience or an M.S. with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or CRO/nonclinical research environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and execute in vitro cell-based and biochemical assays to support drug discovery and preclinical programs.
• Support DMPK/ADME assays including permeability, protein binding, metabolic or CYP-related assays, cytotoxicity, and screening.
• Develop and evaluate 3D cell culture, spheroid, and organoid-based assay systems for translational studies.
• Support nonclinical assays and models for efficacy, pharmacology, safety, and mechanism of action.
• Design experiments, develop protocols, analyze data, troubleshoot assays, and document results.
• Maintain mammalian cell culture systems and relevant cell lines for assays.
• Apply molecular, biochemical, imaging, and viability-based readouts (RT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA, luminescence, microscopy).
• Collaborate with internal scientists and CROs to support preclinical and DMPK studies.
• Prepare data summaries, protocols, reports, and documentation for regulatory or development activities.
• Maintain accurate records and follow lab, quality, and safety procedures.
