Job summary

AbbVie’s Biotherapeutic and Genetic Medicine (BGM) department is seeking a Scientist to support automated high-throughput siRNA screening and data analysis. You will help build scalable workflows that accelerate lead discovery and optimization across therapeutic areas, working closely with platform teams and cross-functional scientists.

The role emphasizes automation-enabled screening, RNA extraction and RT-qPCR, and integration of NGS-based strategies for gene expression profiling.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or related field with 7+ years (BS) or 5+ years (MS).
• Hands-on experience with laboratory automation and high-throughput screening workflows.
• Deep experience with RNA extraction and RT-qPCR assay development.
• Familiarity with NGS workflows for library construction and gene expression profiling.
• Experience with siRNA screening or RNA biology preferred.
• Scripting/ data processing tools and bioinformatics collaboration.
• Experience supporting platform buildout in a matrixed drug discovery environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-throughput siRNA screening workflows using automated liquid-handling and robotics.
• Develop and troubleshoot automated RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, and RNA-seq library prep.
• Design experiments to evaluate siRNA activity, potency, and selectivity.
• Establish data analysis workflows for screening datasets and QC.
• Drive NGS-based strategies for gene expression profiling with automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret datasets.
• Document and standardize screening workflows and protocols.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a collaborative lab environment.
• Present results to project teams and platform leadership.
