Job Summary

The PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center is building a world-class new drug discovery team in Boston area. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Scientist I /Scientist II in immunology/cancer pharmacology with a track record of scientific excellence in immunology or oncology, to join our team in Greater Boston, MA USA. As a key project team member, you will be focused on delivering all aspects of in vitro, in vivo, and ex-vivo pharmacology support. You will bring your theoretical and practical expertise to establish assay systems and deliver datasets that will have direct impact on the drug discovery process and pipeline.

Our new research center, PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center (PIRC), aims to leverage our current expertise in oncology and immunology therapeutic areas to identify and develop novel therapeutic opportunities. Therefore, we are recruiting talented scientists who have deep knowledge in immunology, translational science, bioinformatics and biologics platforms to develop novel drugs through disease-driving biology, novel technology in protein engineering, antibody discovery and new modalities.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, conduct and analyze in vitro, in vivo and ex-vivo experiments/data to assess the functions of target molecules.
  • Develop in vitro immunological assays to assess the biological functions of target molecules in both human and murine primary immune cells and established cell lines.
  • Develop and optimize ex vivo tumor assays, incorporating advanced tumor-on-a-chip technology to closely mimic the tumor microenvironment.
  • Support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with project leaders to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data.
  • Work with Data Science Team to provide evidence for target nomination as well as for clinical development such as novel indication finding and biomarker strategy.
  • Establish and maintain a productive Immune-Oncology lab for drug discovery effort with a high standard for the quality of data with optimized experimental protocols and laboratory materials.
  • Stay up to date with relevant technical and intellectual scientific expertise in Immune-oncology and Pharmacology and have a genuine passion for this field of research.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and accurate scientific presentations for internal and external use.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in oncology, immunology, immuno-oncology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant post-PhD experience in academia or industry.
  • Demonstrated scientific capability in area of immunology and oncology research as evidenced by high-quality independent research and high impact peer-reviewed scientific publications, presentations, projects as a leading contributor.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of immunology, autoimmunity and cancer immunology.
  • Experience in developing complicated FACS-based cell assays, alongside isolation and characterization of primary cells from both mouse and human sources. Experience with a range of in vitro/ex vivo skills, e.g., cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex assay, and proteomics analysis.
  • Work independently, assess and report data in a clear and concise manner, with a clear understanding of its implications within the overall context of drug discovery.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills together with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: impactful oral and written communication.

Preferred qualification:

  • Experience with setting up human tumor ex vivo assays or tumor-on-a-chip technology, including microfluidic platforms and 3D cell culture systems, is highly preferred. Experiences using biologics including peptides and antibodies is preferred but not required.
