Job summary

Bausch + Lomb is seeking a Lab Technician with a strong foundation in microbiology to support product quality through bench testing and data analysis. The role includes training others, operating autoclaves, and contributing to FDA/ISO documentation.

The candidate should have a B.S. in Microbiology (or MS preferred) with 0–3 years of experience, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced GMP environment. On-site US role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• B.S. with 0-3 years of relevant experience, or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in performing microbiological bench and sterility testing.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO standards and GMPs.
• Strong documentation practices and organizational skills.
• Good verbal and written communication; able to work in teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs lab bench microbiological tests and data analysis per SOPs.
• Technical Lead responsible for training and providing technical support.
• Operate equipment such as autoclaves.
• Harvest microorganisms and standardize using a spectrophotometer.
• Write CFRs for FDA/ISO submissions.
• Review and approve testing data; generate protocols and SOPs.
• Support updates to SOPs and related forms; use LIMS for documentation.
• Maintain safe, compliant work environment; participate in training.

Objectives

Monitoring product quality by performing tests to support marketed and pre-marketed product formulations in accordance with SOPs and regulations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Performs lab bench microbiological tests and data analysis per department SOPs.

Technical Lead responsible for training and providing technical support at all levels.

Operation and use of equipment such as autoclaves.

Performs microorganism harvesting and standardizing using a spectrophotometer for use in microbiological tests.

Write Central File Reports (CFRs) for FDA/ISO submissions.

Reviews and approves testing data.

Generate protocols, Experimental Action Plans, and Standard Operating procedures.

Provides technical support for making documentation changes to SOPs and related forms

Uses laboratory management systems to support Microbiology department testing and documentation.

Maintains a safe and compliant work environment by following standards, procedures and company regulations.

Maintains on the job knowledge and skills by participating in applicable training.

Requirements

B.S. with 0-3 years of relevant experience, or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Experience in performing microbiological bench and sterility testing. In-depth knowledge of quality ISO standards and general laboratory GMPs as well as laboratory techniques such as pipetting, aseptic technique, good documentation practices.

Good organization skills and ability to multitask.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively on teams including project teams.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $60,000.00 and $85,000.00. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. They may also be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, a tuition reimbursement program (select degrees), company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
