Job summary

Bausch + Lomb, a global eye health leader, is seeking a Laboratory Microbiologist to perform microbiological bench tests, data analysis, and protocol development in a GMP environment. The role involves operating sterilization equipment, maintaining accuracy in documentation, and supporting FDA/ISO submissions. Candidates should have a B.S.

(0–3 years) or M.S. (0–2 years) in a related field, strong communication, and the ability to work on cross-functional project teams within our US facilities

Qualifications

• B.S. with 0-3 years of relevant experience, or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in microbiological bench and sterility testing.
• Knowledge of ISO GMPs and general lab practices.
• Good organization and multitasking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Performs lab bench microbiological tests and data analysis per SOPs.
• Technical lead responsible for training and providing support at all levels.
• Operates autoclaves and related equipment.
• Harvests and standardizes microorganisms using a spectrophotometer.
• Writes CFRs for FDA/ISO submissions.
• Reviews and approves testing data.
• Generates protocols and SOPs; supports documentation changes.
• Uses LIMS for microbiology testing and documentation.
• Maintains safe, compliant work environment and trainings.

Objectives

Monitoring product quality by performing tests to support marketed and pre-marketed product formulations in accordance with SOPs and regulations.

Responsibilities

Performs lab bench microbiological tests and data analysis per department SOPs.

Technical Lead responsible for training and providing technical support at all levels.

Operation and use of equipment such as autoclaves.

Performs microorganism harvesting and standardizing using a spectrophotometer for use in microbiological tests.

Write Central File Reports (CFRs) for FDA/ISO submissions.

Reviews and approves testing data.

Generate protocols, Experimental Action Plans, and Standard Operating procedures.

Provides technical support for making documentation changes to SOPs and related forms.

Uses laboratory management systems to support Microbiology department testing and documentation.

Maintains a safe and compliant work environment by following standards, procedures and company regulations.

Maintains on the job knowledge and skills by participating in applicable training.

Requirements

B.S. with 0-3 years of relevant experience, or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Experience in performing microbiological bench and sterility testing. In-depth knowledge of quality ISO standards and general laboratory GMPs as well as laboratory techniques such as pipetting, aseptic technique, good documentation practices.

Good organization skills and ability to multitask.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively on teams including project teams.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $60,000.00 and $85,000.00. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. They may also be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, a tuition reimbursement program (select degrees), company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
