Job summary

Collabera Inc. in South San Francisco, CA, seeks a Scientist II to support biologics drug discovery and engineering in a dynamic enterprise environment.

You will design and execute in vitro display technologies to identify and optimize lead antibodies, and contribute to data packages for proof-of-concept activities. The role requires strong molecular and cell biology skills, experience with binding assays (ELISA, flow cytometry, SPR), and familiarity with antibody engineering, library design,

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Biology or related field with 5+ years' relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro antibody discovery display technologies (phage/yeast).
  • Direct experience with binding assays (ELISA, flow cytometry, SPR).
  • Strong molecular and cell biology skills including cloning, sequence analysis, cultured cells.
  • Familiarity with protein structure, antibody affinity, and fragments.

  • Perform binding assays including ELISA, flow cytometry, and surface plasmon resonance.
  • Apply molecular and cell biology techniques including cloning, sequence analysis, bacterial/yeast culture, and mammalian culture.
  • Support antibody engineering and optimization activities including affinity modulation and humanization.
  • Collaborate with research teams to generate in vitro and in vivo data packages for proof of concept.
  • Analyze results and document and communicate scientific findings.
  • Present research findings and conclusions in group settings.

Job description

Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Job Summary:
  • The Scientist II will support biologics drug discovery and engineering within a dynamic large enterprise environment.
  • The role will focus on the design and execution of in vitro display technologies for lead antibody identification and optimization.
  • The scientist will contribute to the generation of in vitro and in vivo data packages supporting proof of concept activities.
  • The position requires strong expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, antibody discovery, binding assays, and protein engineering concepts.
  • The successful candidate will analyze, document, and communicate experimental data while collaborating effectively with cross functional research teams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute in vitro antibody discovery display technologies to support lead identification and optimization.
  • Perform binding assays including ELISA, flow cytometry, and surface plasmon resonance.
  • Apply molecular and cell biology techniques including molecular cloning, sequence analysis, bacterial culture, yeast culture, and mammalian cell culture.
  • Support antibody engineering and optimization activities including affinity modulation, humanization, and liability engineering.
  • Collaborate with research teams to generate in vitro and in vivo data packages supporting proof of concept activities.
  • Analyze experimental results and effectively document and communicate scientific findings.
  • Present research findings and scientific conclusions in group settings.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Biology or a related scientific field.
  • Typically 5 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree or 2 or more years of relevant experience with a Master of Science degree.
  • Hands on experience with in vitro antibody discovery display technologies such as phage display or yeast display.
  • Direct experience with binding assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, or surface plasmon resonance.
  • Strong molecular and cell biology skills including molecular cloning, sequence analysis, bacterial or yeast culture, and mammalian cell culture.
  • Familiarity with protein structure, antibody affinity, antibodies, and antibody fragments.
  • Strong data analysis, documentation, written communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with antibody engineering and optimization including affinity modulation, liability engineering, and humanization.
  • Experience with antibody library design and construction.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and multiplex flow cytometry.
  • Experience with automation of biologics discovery processes.
  • Proficiency with Prism, Geneious, or Genedata.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
