Job summary

Axle Informatics seeks a Scientist to join the National Institutes of Health (NIH) support team for the NIAID in Bethesda, MD. You will provide scientific staffing, oversee a core facility, and collaborate with lab personnel and PIs to advance research quality and compliance.

Key duties include on-site inspections, regulatory interpretation, and budget review, with mentorship for junior staff and detailed reporting on projects and improvements.

Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience is equivalent to a Master's degree.
  • Field of Study Health and Medical Administrative Services.
  • Certifications & Licenses are required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections at DIR sites to ensure compliance with protocols and QA/QC procedures.
  • Provide guidance interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and internal policies.
  • Oversee a state-of-the-art core facility serving the NIH community and review budgets.
  • Mentor junior scientists and prepare detailed reports of site projects with improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinate with Principal Investigators on scheduling instrument usage and audits.

Statement of Work Details
  1. - 1 Conducts or reviews on-site inspections at DIR sites to assess adherence to operational protocols, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines and quality-control and assurance procedures, adherence to laboratory procedures, review project progress, and implement protocols and best practices with equivalent industry standards, as appropriate.
  2. - 2 Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and internal policies to assure compliance.
  3. - 3 Conducts or reviews on-site inspections at DIR sites to assess adherence to operational protocols, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines and quality-control and assurance procedures, adherence to laboratory procedures, review project progress, and implement protocols and best practices with equivalent industry standards, as appropriate.
  4. - 4 Assist with establish and monitor quality assurance (QA)/quality-control (QC) programs at DIR sites.
  5. - 5 Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program. Oversee a state-of-the-art core facility serving the NIH community; review associated budget. Supports laboratory staff on research projects and techniques. Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use. Assists in maintaining adequate space and facilities for ongoing and projected research studies. Evaluates, analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Assist with establish and monitor quality assurance (QA)/quality-control (QC) programs at DIR sites Coordinates with junior staff to modify research protocols. Work with Principal Investigators in scheduling and prioritizing instrument usage. Presents research at national scientific meetings and symposia. Collaborates directly with operating entities to make certain that inspections and audits of DIR sites are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce mandated requirements and meet specifications. Provides interpretation of results, guidance, and scientific support to the management team. Responsible for preparing and submitting detailed reports of site projects to cite specific improvement and implementation recommendations. Mentors junior level scientists. Participate in audits, trainings and site visits as needed. Provides executive experience needed to conduct needs assessments and develop recommendations for improvements of current operations. Collaborates with other professionals to develop recommendations for current and future initiatives. Develops recommendations for improving the safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency of laboratory operations and provides critical feedback to the Federal Task Leader, technical support staff and investigators. Advises management and staff on formulation of new strategies and sensitive or complicated issues. Collaborates directly with operating entities to make certain that inspections and audits of DIR sites are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce mandated requirements and meet specifications. Works with staff to develop and implement new and proactive programs geared to specific audiences. Responsible for preparing and submitting detailed reports of site projects to cite specific improvement and implementation recommendations. Conducts research and analysis to proactively address and respond to inquiries on various policies and issues. Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and internal policies to assure compliance.

Salary Range

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below.
