Job summary

Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST) is seeking a Scientific Programmer for Remote Sensing Applications in College Park, MD with telework potential and a hybrid onsite/remote pattern.

The role involves SST data production from multiple sensors and advanced cloud masking and retrieval algorithms. You will collaborate with SST scientists and software developers, contributing to scientific computing, publication-ready deliverables, and independent research in a long-term, performance-driven

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field completed by hire date (MS with relevant experience considered).
• Knowledge of remote sensing, satellite and oceanographic data, systems, and analyses.
• Proficiency in C++, Fortran, and Python programming languages.
• Experience with multi-threaded tools such as OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA.
• Experience applying ML using PyTorch or TensorFlow; familiarity with netCDF4/HDF5/HDF4/Zarr.
• Linux OS and SSH familiarity; Airflow is a plus.
• Proven publications or deliverables; ability to conduct independent research in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain science code for producing SST datasets from multiple sensors (VIIRS, AHI, ABI, AVHRR, MODIS, METimage, FCI).
• Advance cloud masking, SST retrieval, and error characterization algorithms.
• Collaborate with SST scientists and software developers; contribute to scientific computing and publications.
