Job summary

AMICULUM Limited is seeking a scientific editorial lead based in the USA to drive leadership over oncology publications. You will mentor a scientific team, shape strategic scientific stories, and manage client relationships while ensuring high-quality deliverables across abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.

You’ll work remotely or in hybrid settings, supported by strong collaboration with commercial leads and cross-team partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership for a fast-paced oncology publications account, overseeing development, delivery, and quality.
• Challenge briefs and shape complex publications deliverables including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
• Champion high scientific standards and review writers for accuracy and brand alignment.
• Lead and guide the scientific team with clear direction and timely feedback.
• Act as the primary scientific contact for clients, offering strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with the commercial account lead on performance, resourcing and planning.
• Oversee resource usage, anticipate capacity needs, and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
• Foster cross-team partnerships and share best practices across Amiculum.

We have an exciting opportunity for a scientific editorial lead based in the USA to join our dynamic team. This role will involve providing scientific leadership on a fast-growing global publications account focused on cutting-edge developments in oncology.

The role

Our core expertise is in developing accurate and engaging scientific content delivered through a variety of communication channels for maximum reach and impact. Our teams have established an excellent reputation with our clients for the high quality of work that we provide.

As a result of this success, Amiculum is looking for a scientific editorial lead with a passion for publications who can combine scientific leadership and strategic thinking with strong client relationships, team leadership, and forward planning to support the continued growth of the account.

Key responsibilities

• Providing scientific leadership of a fast-paced and growing global oncology publications account, taking responsibility for the development, delivery, and scientific quality of materials through effective delegation, briefing, and review
• Proactively challenging briefs and providing scientific and strategic input to shape complex publications deliverables, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
• Championing high scientific standards across the account and reviewing the work of other writers to ensure scientific accuracy, clear story flow, and alignment with client and brand objectives
• Leading and inspiring the scientific team through clear direction, day-to-day guidance, and timely, constructive feedback
• Acting as the primary scientific point of contact for clients, building trusted senior-level relationships and providing strategic recommendations grounded in a deep understanding of client objectives, brand strategy, and the oncology landscape
• Working in close partnership with the commercial account lead to support account performance, financial goals, resourcing, and forward planning
• Overseeing effective use of resource, anticipating capacity needs and helping to ensure high-quality delivery on time and within budget
• Building collaborative partnerships across Amiculum, bringing together relevant expertise and sharing best practices and learnings across teams

What you’ll need

• A strong academic background in life sciences
• Extensive medical communications experience, including significant experience leading publications accounts within a healthcare communications agency
• Proven scientific leadership, with the ability to challenge briefs, shape strategic scientific stories, review complex content, and maintain consistently high standards
• The confidence and credibility to act as a senior scientific partner for clients and medical experts, providing clear, evidence-based recommendations
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing scientific teams through effective delegation, briefing, review, and constructive feedback
• Strong strategic and commercial awareness, including an understanding of scope, budgets, recoverability, and resource planning
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships across scientific, commercial, and specialist teams
• The ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize effectively, and keep complex programs moving forward while maintaining high standards
