Scientific Director | Medical Communications

We are partnering with a growing Medical Communications agency seeking an experienced Scientific Director to join its scientific team. This is a senior scientific leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys combining scientific strategy, content development, client partnership, and team leadership while remaining closely connected to the work.

The Scientific Director will serve as a senior scientific lead across key client accounts, partnering with cross-functional teams to translate complex science into clear, strategically aligned communications. The role offers exposure to a diverse mix of clients, therapeutic areas, and deliverables, making it well suited to someone who enjoys variety and does not want to be limited to one area of Medical Communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior scientific lead across assigned client accounts and programs
• Provide scientific and strategic direction from initial concept through final delivery
• Translate complex clinical and scientific information into clear, compelling, and scientifically accurate communications
• Develop and oversee a broad range of scientific and medical communications deliverables
• Partner directly with clients to understand objectives, provide strategic recommendations, and build trusted relationships
• Lead scientific discussions with internal teams, clients, and external experts
• Review and guide the work of medical writers and other scientific team members, ensuring scientific accuracy and strategic alignment
• Mentor and develop junior scientific staff while helping foster a collaborative, high-performing team
• Work closely with Client Services, Creative, Strategy, and other cross-functional partners
• Support organic account growth, new business opportunities, and pitches as needed
• Stay current on evolving scientific data, therapeutic landscapes, and industry trends

What We're Looking For

• Advanced scientific or clinical degree such as a PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent
• Significant experience within a Medical Communications, healthcare communications, or agency environment
• Demonstrated experience leading scientific strategy and content across complex client programs
• Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry
• Experience working directly with pharmaceutical or biotechnology clients
• Ability to confidently present scientific concepts and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities
• Excellent scientific writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative agency environment
