Essential Functions Include
  • Partnering with faculty to integrate research skills into the curricula and develop collections which sustain and advance the department’s research goals;
  • Designing and teaching instructional sessions and workshops in a variety of formats, as well as creating tutorials, guides, and other digital learning objects to develop and enhance students’ research and literacy skills;
  • Providing research consultations;
  • Seeking opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships between the library and assigned departments as well as across the university community;
  • Keeping up with trends and developments in the research methodologies and practices of areas of responsibility;
  • Collaborating with colleagues in Research & Instruction in first year instruction, general research and reference assistance, and overall outreach efforts;
  • Participating in professional development and continuing education activities; and
  • Performing other related duties as assigned to meet the goals of the Libraries and University.
Required Education And Experience
  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent). The combination of another graduate degree and relevant experience will be given equal consideration.
  • Experience working in academic libraries
  • 2+ years instruction experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels of expertise across disciplines
  • Projects an approachable and customer service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work on teams
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently learn new resources
Preferred Qualifications
  • Second master’s or PhD in a STEM or other data-dependent field
  • 2+ years’ experience working in research libraries
  • Experience and/or training in conducting systematic reviews
  • Demonstrated involvement in professional activities, including evidence of ability to contribute to librarianship, research, and service as well as capacity for leadership within the profession.
  • Experience in developing and producing workshops and tutorials
