Job summary

Northampton Community College is seeking part-time science tutors to assist students in General Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Anatomy & Physiology. Tutors work 10–25 hours weekly, on campus or online, and receive CRLA training with certification expected within one year.

Responsibilities include individualized or small group tutoring, maintaining records, attending staff meetings, and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of the subject(s) that they will tutor
• An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
• A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, an interest in working with a diverse population of students, patience, and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed
• Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

• Tutors help students with science disciplines including General Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Anatomy & Physiology
• Tutors meet with students on an individual or small group basis on campus and/or online
• Maintain complete and accurate records and participate in staff meetings and professional development
• Respond promptly to correspondence from Learning Center staff
• CRLA training is provided and certification is expected within one year of employment
