Job summary

Spartanburg Community College is seeking a tutor who fosters self-directed learning in each student. You will help clarify concepts and explain assignments to build a solid foundation for next steps, and you may visit science classes at the start of each semester to introduce tutoring resources.

You may coordinate science workshops and participate in college events to promote tutoring services. Background checks are required; be prepared to relate well to people, adapt to diverse learning

Qualifications

• Degree in the field is required.
• Experience teaching or tutoring is a plus.
• Must be willing to submit to a background check.
• Ability to relate to people and adapt to different learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Encourage self-directed learning and help students understand coursework.
• Clarify concepts or explain assignments to build a solid foundation.
• Attend science classes at semester start to introduce tutoring resources.
• Coordinate and present science workshops for just-in-time learning.
