Job Responsibilities

The tutor is primarily responsible for encouraging self-directed learning and development in each student. To do this, a tutor assists students in developing a deep understanding of their coursework. This may require the tutor to help clarify a concept or give a clear explanation of an assignment. The tutor is not expected to know how to answer every possible question, but rather to work to ensure that the student develops a firm foundation to take learning to the next level. The cosmetology tutor is asked to visit classes at the start of each semester to introduce oneself and make students aware of tutoring resources. They may also be asked to attend classes or other college events to promote tutoring services. They may also be asked to coordinate and present workshops to assist just in time learning. Additional tasks may also be assigned by the director. The tutor will be tasked with assisting students in effectively studying for certification exams using study skills.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Experience in the field and history of successful study habits.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching/tutoring a plus.
