Qualifications

• Masters degree in Science preferred; Bachelor's degree in Science required.
• Valid NYS Teaching Certification (or in active process of completing program).
• Passion for the Sciences with interest in multiple subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
• Experience teaching in a public or charter high school with evidence of student growth.
• Experience designing curriculum and lesson materials; ability to differentiate for diverse learners.
• Commitment to working with BIPOC teens from the South Bronx and holding students to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Design a science program and connect its concepts to other STEM courses (Math).
• Teach 4-6 sections of assigned Science courses and use prep time for Mock Exams and Saturday prep.
• Regularly communicate with families to build relationships with students and the Bronx community.
• Lead an advisory for 20-25 students and engage families regularly.
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and parents to build an innovative school model aligned with our mission.
• Work with ICT teacher to develop lesson plans, provide grades/feedback, use data to inform planning, attend norming meetings and IEP meetings.
• Attend weekly 2x1 meetings with supervisor and co-teacher, 1x1 meetings, and weekly department meetings.
• Participate in professional development on campus and with external partners.
• Incorporate equity into curriculum and collaborate on interdisciplinary STEM initiatives.
• Be receptive to feedback from peers and managers; perform other duties including after-school activities.
