Position

Science Teacher (Middle School and High School)

Location

Multiple campuses across Denver, Colorado. Apply for any location; new positions posted throughout the year.

Salary

$60,000 - $78,000, based on up to 10 years of aligned experience. Relocation stipend offered for applicants from 75 miles or more from Denver.

Status

Full-time, in-person, school year. Exempt. Benefits eligible.

Start Date

First day of new-staff training: end of July. School year calendar available.

Role Overview

DSST seeks passionate science teachers dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment where students actively engage in inquiry, hands‑on exploration, and sense‑making. Teachers guide students in shaping their scientific knowledge through modeling, articulate explanations, and practical applications. Emphasis is on inclusivity and equity, ensuring all students, regardless of background, can thrive. The curriculum aligns with NGSS and best practices in literacy and math.

Curriculum

• Middle School (Grades 6-8): Integrated NGSS Science Curriculum; science-themed elective enrichment; support for multilingual learners in co-taught Science/English Language Development classes.
• High School: Physics and/or AP Physics; Chemistry and/or AP Chemistry; Biology and/or AP Biology; various science electives.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive content to 3-5 classes daily, using DSST curriculum resources.
• Collaborate with Special Services and English Language Development colleagues to support all students, including exceptional learners and multilingual learners.
• Design and implement strategies to promote academic progress for diverse learners, ensuring each student’s strengths are nurtured.
• Use assessment tools to monitor students’ intellectual growth, setting high expectations and guiding instruction toward proficiency.
• Promote a positive classroom and school culture that affirms students’ cultural identities; cultivate trusting relationships with students and families.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, including coaching, feedback, and emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Take on additional duties as needed, such as student recruitment, small-group advisory, after-school tutoring, etc.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Demonstrated content knowledge (in-field status) via qualified credentials.
• Proven commitment to serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students (ideal).
• Colorado teaching credential preferred but not required for most opportunities.
