Job summary

Episcopal is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support the Director of Scientific Research and guide students through independent projects in the BSL-2 laboratory. The role focuses on training, supervision, and maintaining the lab environment across the Upper School Science department.

The responsibilities include autoclave operation, scheduling time-sensitive work, assisting with science fairs, and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, either completed or in pursuit.
  • Experience in microbiology research.
  • Experience working with or supervising adolescents.
  • Employee must pass a background check, fingerprinting, info.flclearinghouse.com, and complete the Safeguarding God's Children class.
  • Required Training: Safeguarding God's Children and BSL-2 level training.

Responsibilities

  • Training students to safely work in the BSL-2 lab.

  • Cleaning and maintaining the BSL-2 lab.

  • Chaperone Regional (Typically Feb) and State Science Fair (Typically March, includes overnight stay in Lakeland)
