Job summary

Oakwood School in North Hollywood, California, seeks a Science Laboratory Assistant to manage five science labs and two stock rooms at the Secondary School campus. Responsibilities include setting up materials for student labs, assisting with investigations, and maintaining inventory in line with established protocols.

An optional 12-hour-per-week role in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) may be added to support tutoring or proctoring make-up exams and related tasks for students and faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with extensive lab coursework and 1–2+ years of lab experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to tutor math and science up to 10th grade and assist students with organizational skills.
• Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products (Docs/Sheets/Word) and general internet use.

Responsibilities

• Prepares labs for teaching and learning according to Oakwood protocols.
• Collaborates with teachers in planning and conducting lab investigations.
• Maintains an organized inventory of lab equipment, chemicals, and stock room supplies.
• ARC responsibilities include standard proctoring, processing testing-related forms, and assisting with exams and related clerical tasks.
