George Washington University Libraries and Academic Innovation (GWLAI) seeks a collaborative Research Services Librarian for Science and Engineering to join the Research and User Services department. The role supports interdisciplinary teaching, research, and publishing in the natural sciences, engineering, data-intensive work, and open scholarship.

The librarian provides research consultations, instruction, collection development, data literacy workshops, and contributes to open access

Qualifications

ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library or information science or equivalent experience by appointment.
Ability to collaborate and support an inclusive research community.
Strong initiative and results-driven approach in past roles.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Awareness of scholarly communication trends and open access practices.
Experience or potential to support science and engineering research, instruction, publishing.

Responsibilities

Support the research and instructional needs of faculty, students, and researchers in sciences and engineering.
Conduct library instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses in partnership with faculty.
Provide research consultations across disciplines via chat and email.
Participate in collection development and relationship-building with departments.
Provide guidance on scientific research methods, datasets, and analysis tools.
Contribute to data literacy, computational fluency, and open access initiatives.
