Science and Health Editor (Temp), NBC News Digital

This temporary position at NBC News offers a salary range of $95,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. The role involves overseeing a digital team focused on science, health, climate, and space news.

The editor will manage three reporters, coordinate coverage across the newsroom, and produce diverse journalism, including breaking news, feature stories, and interactive graphics on topics like climate change, wellness influencers, animal cognition, and auroras.

Responsibilities include assigning and editing stories, ensuring multimedia elements are incorporated, and executing the full editorial process. The candidate should be reactive to breaking news and proactive on key issues, emphasizing speed, accuracy, clarity, and fairness. Collaboration with other editors and senior leaders is essential.

This 16-week remote or in-headquarters role in New York requires monitoring news sources, writing/editing headlines and copy, overseeing reporters, and utilizing NBC News resources.

Minimum qualifications: 4+ years in a newsroom with experience in science and health stories, flexibility, excellent communication, and editing skills.
