Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Nurse Clinician for the Spinal Cord Injury unit to deliver fundamental nursing care and coordinate patient education across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

• English Proficiency required for patient care and documentation.
• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by ACEN or CCNE.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a US state, DC, or territory.
• Foreign education requires degree equivalency validation (ICD) for licensure.
• Bridge program graduates may become licensed before completion.
• State licensure and bridge program requirements are defined by VA qualifications.
• Must meet VA qualification standards per VA Handbook 5005 Appendix G6.

Responsibilities

• Delivers fundamental knowledge-based nursing care to assigned clients.
• Coordinates care focusing on patient education, self-management, and satisfaction.
• Applies nursing process within an interdisciplinary team in SCI/Disorders unit.
• Educates staff on current nursing practice and treatment modalities.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (JC, OSHA, VHA directives).
