Job summary

Volusia County Schools seeks a Vehicle Tech Assist to inspect, maintain and repair district vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance for student transport services in Daytona Beach area.

Responsibilities include servicing vehicles and equipment, assisting mechanics, performing on-road service calls, recording parts and labor, and upholding OSHA safety standards. Must obtain CDL-B with passenger endorsement within 90 days and work flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent; mechanical training preferred
• CDL Class B or above with passenger endorsement within 90 days from employment
• Able to work scheduled shifts and attend on-the-job trainings
• Mechanical experience preferred; able to operate district vehicles per policy 505

Responsibilities

• Service, fuel, and clean district owned vehicles and equipment.
• Assist mechanics in daily duties.
• Perform inspections and minor repairs as assigned.
• Report hazards or dangerous situations.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and service trucks.
