Qualifications

• Valid California driver’s license and ability to obtain School Bus Driver Certification within 6 months.
• Knowledge of California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code as it applies to pupil transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist in loading/unloading students.
• Excellent communication and cooperation with parents, school staff, and students.

Responsibilities

• Drive a district vehicle on designated routes and on an as-needed basis following time schedules.
• Pick up and discharge students at stops or residences as directed; maintain order and safety on board.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance; report mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain records of mileage, students transported, and incidents; prepare related reports.
• Attend safety meetings and driver training to stay current with regulations.
