Job summary

Saco School Department is seeking a Van Driver/Aide to safely transport and supervise students during the 2026-2027 school year. The role emphasizes student safety and positive interactions, with the driver assisting students boarding and exiting the vehicle.

This 30-hour-per-week position requires a valid Maine driver’s license, a clean driving record, and Maine fingerprinting certification. You will support students with mobility needs and follow district procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Maine Department of Education fingerprinting certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to maintain positive student interactions at all times.
  • Ability to assist students with physical, behavioral, and mobility needs.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a school van in accordance with regulations.
  • Transport students to and from school and to activities.
  • Supervise students during transportation and ensure conduct.
  • Assist students in boarding and exiting the vehicle safely.
  • Ensure students are secured in seat belts or wheelchairs.
  • Provide one-on-one support as needed.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
