Job summary

Portland Public Schools is hiring a full‑time Van Driver for the school year, with guaranteed 40 hours per week and summers off. You will transport up to 11 students, follow routes, and enforce conduct codes while maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.

Position includes a permanent schedule, potential overtime on athletic trips, and union representation. Must pass USDOT physical and have a Maine non‑commercial license. Wage range is $20.61–$26.13 per hour.

Qualifications

• Valid Maine non-commercial driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have held a license for at least 3 years.
• Must pass USDOT physical and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Drives an established route and/or individualized trips, picking up and discharging students while following laws and safe practices.
• Enforces the Student Bus Conduct Code.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and reports defects.
