Job summary

San Luis Obispo Classical Academy is seeking a part-time school van driver to transport students on mornings routes from SLO to North County and back to SLO. Routes run Monday through Thursday, roughly 7:00 am to 8:15 am, through the end of the school year (June 2026).

The driver reports to the Athletic Director and must follow school vehicle procedures. Responsibilities include punctual, safe transportation, adherence to traffic laws, and keeping receipts for driving expenses.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid California driver’s license.
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience.
• Clean driving record for at least 1 year.
• CPR and First Aid training completed.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Willingness to complete pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Report to duty on time and provide safe transportation of SLOCA students from North County to SLOCA.
• Follow SLOCA’s internal vehicle and student management processes.
• Drive safely and sober.
• Respect traffic laws and avoid violations that may incur fines.
• If applicable, wear corrective lenses.
• Document and provide receipts for driving expenses.
• Check van gas, tire pressure and fluids regularly.
• Report vehicle damages or problems to the Athletic Director.

Job description

The school van driver is responsible for responsibly and reliably driving the designated routes from SLO to North County and back to SLO to transport SLOCA students in the mornings, Monday to Thursday (from approximately 7:00 am to 8:15 am), through the end of the school year (June 2026). The driver will be reporting to the Athletic Director.

Education and Experience

Required:

• Have a valid California driver’s license
• Have been driving for a minimum of 3 years
• Have a clean driving record for at least 1 year
• Have completed CPR & 1st Aid training
• 21 years of age or older
• Willingness to complete pre-employment screenings

Duties & Responsibilities

We expect the driver to:

• Report to duty on time and provide a safe and reliable transportation of students from North County to SLOCA.
• Follow SLOCA’s internal processes regarding the use of the school vehicle and student management.
• Drive safely and sober.
• Respect traffic laws and fellow drivers. Avoid double-parking, blocking entrances, and engaging in any other traffic violations that may result in fines.
• If applicable, wear corrective lenses (i.e., glasses, contact lenses).
• Document and provide receipts for any driving-related expenses (i.e., fuel, toll charges).
• Check the van regularly to ensure gas, tire pressure, and all car fluids are at appropriate levels.
• Report any damages or problems with their assigned vehicle to the Athletic Director as soon as possible.
