Job summary

Texas City Indep School Dist Transportation is seeking a Vehicle Mechanic to perform major and minor mechanical repairs on district vehicles in Texas City, TX. Starting date is immediately, with a salary of $24.29 per hour for full-time work in a transportation shop setting.

The role requires a Texas CDL with P and S endorsements, at least three years of experience, and the ability to pass DOT drug/alcohol tests and annual physical exams.

Qualifications

• Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
• Three years experience as a mechanic
• Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance and repair
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
• Ability to pass U.S. DOT alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam

Responsibilities

• Perform minor mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections on all district vehicles with minimal supervision.
• Service vehicles according to established preventive maintenance schedule and maintain records.
• Inspect vehicles and evaluate condition of systems and equipment.
• Do welding and minor body work.
