Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Manager in the Office of Transportation and Fleet Management Services to oversee safe, efficient school bus operations across routes.

Responsibilities include supervising drivers, evaluating routes, coordinating with schools and parents, and maintaining compliance with state/federal regulations. A CDL Class B with P/S endorsements is preferred; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with required certification/training for transportation.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree, significant school bus management experience, and CDL Class B with P and S endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve conflicts between drivers, parents, administrators, and students.
• Conduct meetings with drivers, parents, and administrators.
• Evaluate routes and pupil stops for safety and efficiency.
• Promote public relations with schools and the community.
• Tabulate counts for state reports and daily efficiency.
• Administer placement of school bus drivers.
