Job summary

Dean Transportation seeks a Transportation Director to lead an operation center in Grand Rapids, MI, ensuring safe, reliable student and passenger transportation. Driving a school bus may be required.

You will supervise office staff and drivers, establish routes, manage scheduling, and maintain compliance with state, local, and federal standards. A strong focus on safety and customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in the school bus industry or transportation field.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Meet company and state standards for driving record check.
• Meet company, state, and school district standards for criminal history check.
• Meet Federal DOT guidelines and physical examination requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with students, parents, contracting agencies, Dean Transportation staff and the public.
• Establish safe and efficient transportation routes.
• Supervise and coach Dean Transportation employees; provide direction, leadership, counseling, recognition and discipline as appropriate.
• Review passenger behavioral concerns and maintain staffing levels.
• Interview and select applicants; manage staffing levels per procedures.
