Job summary

Lawton Public Schools is seeking a Director of Transportation to lead all district transportation operations for about 13,200 students across 26 sites and a fleet of more than 100 buses and vehicles. The role oversees routing, scheduling, supervision of staff, safety, and technology systems, leveraging Transfinder, Stopfinder, and Infinite Campus to improve efficiency, communication, and accountability.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in transportation or related field.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to analyze operational and financial data and make informed decisions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with employees, administrators, students, families, vendors.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Transportation Services.
• Supervise, coach, and develop transportation staff and drivers.
• Develop annual departmental goals aligned with district priorities.
• Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service across routes.
• Develop and manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relations.
• Use data dashboards to monitor performance and drive improvements.
