Qualifications

• Minimum of 24+ college level semester hours completed along with the approved Work Keys Assessments (see below) or at least 48 semester hours of College Level Coursework.
• Meets minimum qualifications established by the Cumberland County Board of Education.
• Work Keys Assessments must include Workplace Documents (Reading) score 4+, Business Writing score 3+, and Applied Mathematics score 4+.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with planning, organizing, and evaluating instructional activities; develop classroom procedures; prepare materials; present instructional activities as directed by the teacher.
• Assist the student to increase confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
• Attend to the students' physical and personal care needs.
• Assist the student who has difficulty communicating with others.
• Support students in social activities throughout the total school program.
• Demonstrate respect for children of all abilities and backgrounds.
• Develop good relationships with children, their parents, and with teachers and other professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality standards and participate in staff development as required.
