Job summary

Nestucca Valley School District is seeking a CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTE to support schools in programs such as Educational Assistant, Secretarial, Custodian and Food Service. This role substitutes for active staff when they are unavailable.

Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with total care, maintaining safety and confidentiality, and following district guidelines. The district values teamwork and effective communication with students, families and colleagues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience supervising or assisting children preferred.
• Knowledge of instructional procedures for child-focused work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work harmoniously and communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Patrol halls, cafeteria, lavatories and supervise students outdoors while loading and unloading buses and on the playground during recess as assigned.
• Remain in assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed for the day.
• Assist with students requiring total care (i.e., feeding, lifting, toileting, cleaning).
• Assist with students who are experiencing behavioral difficulties or may be verbally/physically aggressive.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
• Sanitize desks, tables, straws, oral motor equipment and other items as directed.
• Arrange classroom furniture as directed.
• Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and community.
• Perform other reasonably related duties that the Supervisor may assign.
