Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks School Social Workers to support students’ academic success and wellbeing under the Talent Acquisition team.

SSWs provide direct and indirect services, crisis intervention, and referrals, collaborating with families, educators, and community partners to promote anti-bias practices and equitable learning.

This pool position requires Minnesota licensure and a background in social work, with experience serving diverse students and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (MSW preferred) in Social Work and current Minnesota licensure to practice as a social worker; two years of professional social work with children, youth, and families.
• Master’s degree in Social Work preferred.
• Knowledge of NASW Code of Ethics and child/family welfare.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and promote anti-bias practices.

Responsibilities

• Participates as member of site Special Education team and supports due process and collaboration.
• Completes Home and Family interviews and required documentation for evaluations.
• Provides direct and indirect social emotional learning and mental health services.
• Consults with staff and caregivers regarding supports and interventions for students.
• Intervenes and supports in student alcohol/drug issues.
• Supports students in crisis and connects to resources.
