Job summary

Total Education Solutions (TES) is seeking a School Social Worker in Detroit, Michigan to support students and families with counseling, intervention, and skill-building. You will work within the School Services Team to help students overcome barriers and thrive academically and personally.

The role offers flexible full-time/part-time options, requires a Master’s in Social Work and state licensure, and involves collaboration with families, schools, and community agencies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work and current state licensure.
• At least 2 years of experience working in schools.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance with limits that allow driving a personal vehicle for work (25/50k liability coverage).
• Must clear IChat and have understanding of state laws and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct counseling and intervention services to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Help students develop coping strategies, social skills, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify student needs and barriers to learning.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Respond appropriately to student crises, including concerns involving abuse, neglect, self-harm, trauma, and other urgent situations.
• Build strong partnerships with families and serve as a liaison between schools, families, and community agencies.
• Maintain all required licensure, certifications, and credentials for school social work.
