Job summary

Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7 Elementary School in Edwardsville, Illinois seeks a School Social Worker or Counselor to support students with behavioral and emotional needs. Qualifications

• Appropriate Illinois Certification (Type 73 – School Social Worker or School Counselor) is required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a participant in a building Collaborative Team to identify student learning needs and establish necessary supports in the school setting to promote academic achievement.
• Provide direct or consultative services as designated in a student’s IEP, 504 Plan, or Collaborative Plan, including group and individual counseling, collecting behavioral data, goal setting, and communicating with parent and/or community resources
• Collaborate, develop, and assist in the implementation of social stories, visual schedules, behavior contracts
• Conduct functional analyses of student behavior through observations, teacher/student/parent interviews, and interpretation of behavior assessments/scales; develop hypotheses and plan for appropriate interventions
• Crisis intervention
• Complete Social Developmental Study (SDS) as part of a Collaborative/IEP team
• Complete behavioral and/or adaptive skill assessment scales and present findings to building team
• Consult and collaborate with building personnel regarding student progress in behavior and social skills
• Present staff development on topics of expertise to district personnel and parents
• Participate in building, grade level, and district committees, in-services, and related service personnel meetings
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Administrator
