Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a School Social Worker to provide counseling and support to students and families facing social, behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges. You will evaluate student needs, develop and implement plans, collaborate with teachers and therapists, participate in IEP/504 meetings, and maintain confidential case records.

The role requires a Master’s in social work and Tennessee licensure; a valid driver’s license is required; clinical social work

Qualifications

• MSW degree with 1 year related experience or equivalent
• Licensure as Licensed Master Social Worker by TN Board and Licensed School Social Worker by TN Dept of Education
• Licensed Clinical Social Work credential preferred
• Valid Driver's license required
• Proof of Education/Training/Experience required

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements evaluations of students' social-emotional functioning.
• Gathers information through psychosocial assessments to establish goals and related objectives.
• Identifies home/school/community factors that impact education.
• Consults with school psychologists, teachers, parents to develop behavioral plans and monitor progress.
• Participates in IEP and 504 program meetings.
• Provides individual and group counseling for students and families.
• Observes students in classroom settings.
• Provides parent and teacher consultation to address academics, behavior, and communication.
• Serves as an advocate and liaison between schools and community/mental health agencies.
• Prepares and maintains confidential case documentation.
• Attends trainings, conferences, and workshops to enhance knowledge.
• Performs routine administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
