• Observes, describes, and refers suspected speech-language impairments to teachers.
• Performs thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments.
• Provides screening to identify speech handicapped children at regular intervals.
• Refers individuals to community agencies and specialists as appropriate.
• Delivers individualized therapy plans to meet student needs.
• Collaborates with staff to implement therapy in daily activities.
• Provides information and counseling to families when appropriate.
• Offers in-service education and serves as a consultant on speech improvement topics.
• Keeps thorough ongoing records for each student receiving therapy.
