Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Maine certification.
  • Experience with structured teaching and assistive technology.
  • Experience with student positive behavior supports and collaborative problem solving.
  • Ability to provide leadership and staff training.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with teachers, admins, and parents.
  • Ability to write valid IEPs and follow IDEA procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods and special education law.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, screen, and evaluate students and share results with families and staff.
  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with Speech/Language impairment.
  • Provide consultative services and model techniques for staff to support interventions.
  • Maintain hearing devices and coordinate services with nurse and audiologist.
  • Maintain records and information concerning individual students.
  • Provide direct and consultative language therapy.
  • Communicate with families to foster student success and engagement.
  • Stay current by attending workshops and professional organizations.
