Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a School Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for a contract - part-time role in Phoenix, AZ. The interpreter will facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting, primarily using American Sign Language (ASL).

The role requires ASL proficiency and relevant interpreter certifications; preferred candidates hold an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting or deaf studies and state credentials as

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language is required.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field preferred.
• State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate may be required.
• EIPA certification may be required by state or client.
• RID certification may be required by state or client.
• Must meet all professional standards of practice.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in a school setting using ASL and spoken language as needed.
• Provide accurate sign language interpretation to ensure accessibility of instruction, activities, and discussions.

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trainedprofessional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearingstudents and others within an educational setting. Often, American SignLanguage (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and viceversa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction,activities and learning discussions.

Minimum Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language

• Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deafstudies or related field, preferred

• State Board of Education Initial Sign Language InterpreterCertificate (as applicable)

• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

• Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
