Job summary

Amergis is seeking a qualified Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and peers in a school setting. The interpreter will render spoken language into ASL and vice versa to provide access to classroom instruction and activities.

This contract full-time role is based in Virginia Beach, VA, with responsibilities aligned to state regulations and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field preferred.
• State Board Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate where applicable.
• EIPA certification where applicable.
• RID certification where applicable.
