Job summary

AHS Staffing seeks a School Services Special Education Teacher for a local Chicago contract for the 2026-2027 school year. This charter high school program emphasizes architecture, construction, and engineering, with project-based learning and strong student support.

You will teach 3 inclusion classes and 2 resource classes, manage IEPs, collaborate with general education staff, and prepare students for postsecondary success in a high school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement required
• High school experience preferred
• Strong collaboration, classroom management, and IEP/case management skills

Responsibilities

• Provide special education support across 3 inclusion classes and 2 resource classes
• Deliver engaging, differentiated, and student-centered instruction
• Develop and implement standards-based lessons aligned with student needs and IEP goals
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers and other school professionals
• Manage a special education caseload and complete required IEP documentation
• Schedule, attend, and participate in IEP meetings
• Monitor student academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
• Use assessment data to modify instruction and provide appropriate accommodations and supports
• Maintain a positive classroom environment with clear expectations and procedures
• Communicate with families regarding student progress and development
