Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a School Security Officer to help ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors across school properties. The role involves directing traffic near school entrances, patrolling facilities, and responding to incidents with a focus on prevention and safety.

You will work under the Safety and Security Manager, support school administrators, and coordinate with local law enforcement for emergencies and investigations, while maintaining clear records

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; demonstrates ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Experience in security or crowd/traffic control is preferred.
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff and law enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Assist administrators in preventing personal injury, property loss, and disruption of the educational process through routine patrol and surveillance.
• Provide traffic direction at school access points during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.
• Serve as floating SSO to cover for absent SSOs at other locations.
• Patrol assigned areas to deter disruptions and ensure a safe, secure environment.
• Enforce School Board policies and assist in stopping disruptive or illegal behavior.
• Assist in investigations by collecting statements and reviewing surveillance footage.
• Coordinate with safety personnel during emergencies and drills.
