Job summary

Fortis Group is hiring on-call and part-time School Safety Officers for several locations throughout Macomb County, Michigan. Shifts are daytime Monday through Friday with occasional evenings or weekends, and the role pays $30.00 per hour with overtime after 8 hours.

The SSO protects students and facilities by enforcing safety policies, coordinates with law enforcement, and supports emergency drills. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid CPL, and the ability to pass a

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• State-certified active or former law enforcement officer with minimum 5 years experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; CPL highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies and report to management.
• Patrol school grounds and interiors; monitor entrances and parking areas.
• Maintain logs of incidents and actions taken; enforce school safety policies.
• Engage in conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed.
• Coordinate with law enforcement for emergencies and drills.
