Job summary

Fortis Group is seeking School Safety Officers to serve in Bloomfield and Birmingham area schools. Roles include on-call, part-time and full-time positions with daytime shifts, occasional evenings and weekends, and $30.00 per hour with overtime after 8 hours.

Training provided plus opportunities for summer and holiday work. Officers enforce school safety policies, protect property and people, and liaise with local law enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• State-certified active or former law enforcement officer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience in a school or youth-focused environment is a plus.
• Valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and excellent marksmanship skills.
• Strong crisis management and conflict resolution knowledge.
• Able to pass a thorough background check.
• Proven integrity, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to security incidents and emergencies, report to authorities and management.
• Assist with security-related requests of the principal and faculty.
• Patrol school grounds and interior building at regular intervals.
• Monitor student arrival, dismissal, parking lots, bus routes, and entrances.
• Follow dismissal and event entry protocols; ensure visitor protocols.
• Maintain incident logs and follow management directions.
• Operate and maintain CCTV, alarm, and access control systems.
