Job summary

Fortis Group is hiring on-call and part-time School Safety Officers for several locations throughout Macomb County. The role pays $30.00 per hour, with overtime after 8 hours, and offers flexible schedules, paid training, and growth opportunities.

The School Safety Officer protects students and staff by enforcing policies, provides armed deterrence, and coordinates with law enforcement for safety and security tasks, including drills and incident reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• State-certified active or former law enforcement officer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Valid CPL and excellent marksmanship; background check must be passed.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies, report to authorities and management.
• Assist with security requests of the principal and faculty.
• Patrol school grounds and interior building at regular intervals.
• Monitor arrivals, dismissals, parking lots, bus routes and entrances.
• Follow school event protocols and safety procedures; maintain incident logs.
• Operate CCTV, alarms and access control systems; de-escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and participate in safety drills.
